Tech this out: how I'm using tech for good
Can using A.I. be therapeutic? (#TBTN003)
I’ve been delinquent in writing and publishing this third issue of the Best Tech newsletter for several reasons - all semi-valid, but the real reason that I’m (over a week) behind is that I’ve been truly immersed in using the newest iterations of software powered by A.I., and A.I. itself. While I am, indeed, using agents to build decks, run divisions of companies, to automate a lot of my day-to-day workflow and operations, the bulk of my real “work” - my writing and social media influence, has no A.I. or automation component at all (by design, and will likely never change, and certainly no time soon, if ever). Ironically, the bulk of what I’m spending my time on lately, however, is using A.I. not as a productivity tool, not to make money, not to save time, not to learn new things, but to have fun.
I’ve been alive for nearly half a decade, have ‘lived a lot of life’, and certainly have lived, and continue to live, a very full life. But the amount of joy, therapeutic release, fulfillment, and excitement I’ve been getting from the way that I’ve been using A.I. recently has truly been life-changing. I’ve discussed and even begun teaching how I am using A.I. specifically to do what I’m doing with it (making music and music videos, more on that later), but this issue of the Best Tech newsletter is a bit more existential - the goal is to help you figure out how to use this tool which is A.I. to itch that scratch for you in your life.
Also, small humble brag: I’ve ‘notoriously’ started these issues off with super long run-on sentences, but in this issue I was proactive and found three places in the run-on where I could put sentences and capitalize the next letter, so… problem averted! Let’s see A.I. do that, yet.
So, before getting into my music videos, and what it’s done for me in my life (as well as my vision for where it can take me), let’s unpack the concept that A.I. can help virtually anyone find a calling, get good at something they always wanted to be but in some cases never could or did, or in other cases got good at, but couldn’t break through to the next levels previously, and otherwise unlock human potential for individuals (you), as well as society as scale.
Although this is an non-exhaustive list, some ideas that come to mind are making movies or tv shows (Manus and Flow already make this possible), hosting value-add niche podcasts based on market research, building apps and selling them, building and running communities, being a celebrated artist or influencer, taking custody of things in your household like home repair, and so much more. Also, as a remind, all the current tech is “as bad as it will ever be” and keeps getting genuinely better ever quarter, as things continue to escalate. We will soon have smart screens as lenses in our eyes capable of BCI (brain-computer interfacing) or the comparable wearable glasses (also, noninvasive brain-scanning exoskeletons for those who’re comfortable with fully ‘seizing the moment’ of where we truly are - more on that in a future issue).
But the point is also that you can either go human-first and have an honest conversation with yourself about what you’ve always wished you could do or accomplish, and then ask the tech how it could help you achieve your goals (or research otherwise, but basically find out how it’s now a possibility, and viable, and then take action), or go tech-first and actually just have a conversation with your A.I. of choice (voice-mode is best, like you’re having a phone call with a friend), and unpack together something that A.I. can help you do and get great at to achieve whatever your desired outcomes may be - influence, wealth generation, creative outputs, more free time, or pure bliss, which I’ve found in making songs and music videos using Suno, Hedra, CapCut, and with Veo 3, Sora, ChatGPT and some other tools.
If you like music, and/or want to hear and see examples of my creations, I just launched my YouTube Channel ‘Now That’s What I Call AI Music’ (subscribe if you like it, share it if you love it!), and to learn how I’ve been doing these, read the previous issue of the Best Tech newsletter (if a friend sent this to you, subscribe at thebesttechnewsletter.com and please thank them for me) to get caught up to speed, and stay tuned to the next one where I dive deeper into how to fine-tune the songs, how to lip-sync to the music for superior music videos, and more.
I do want this newsletter to be tutorial driven, but also want to be cognizant that the issues aren’t too long, so will be embedding many of the tutorials as easy-to-follow videos for brevity and ease of adoption for you, my esteemed reader. But in this issue, aside from needing to peel myself away from my Suno and CapCut long enough to share this with you, I really just wanted to share that I believe A.I. will be ushering a true age of personal creativity, opportunity, and entertainment I think few recognize yet, and to help you potentially get ahead of the curve to ride the tidal wave on the crest, and the shred it with me and others.
So for me, I’ve been getting up early, staying up late (I was up until 3 am the other night!) - I dream about my A.I. music and videos, I am not sleeping deeply because I’m preoccupied with the songs and video production… I feel like a teenager again. It’s bringing back to life a dormant passion, as well as the ambitions and aspirations it brings. To be clear, I have been a musician since the 80s, a recording artist and producer since the 90s, a huge music fan and aficionado for many decades (leave it at that, lol) and have now put in hundreds of hours of practice, testing, and ‘putting in work’ (word to Gangstarr, rest-in-power Guru gifted unlimited rhymes universal), and I’ve never stopped making and releasing music (which I do love too, by the way) - however (big however), I didn’t have the band, or time, or bandwidth, or production resources, or patience, or differentiation, or clear path to victory to become a major recording artist, or to have a hit song. I’d basically given up on my dreams of “becoming a rock star” (although I still think I can become president), but now with the power these tools provide me, coupled with my unique human creativity and vision, strengthened by my knowledge of how to really use these tools to the fullest of their potential (which is why I write this newsletter, and why you subscribe and read it), this fire is reignited, and my dreams feel fully within reach.
I believe that I can and will generate/produce (a) multi-platinum, Grammy nominated, globally renown and beloved song/s amassing billions of streams, making tens of millions dance and smile, and making the “artist” who creates it, who will be an alter-ego persona avatar I’ve concepted, created, cultivated, trained and effectively ‘manage’. As the human generator I will own the rights, the IP, the brand, the creative control, the direction and production. What’s wild is that I just launched the NTWICAIM YT channel (ifkyk) yesterday, and have only been posted the videos on LinkedIn for about a week now, and I’ve already had multiple brands and influencers reach out to me for quotes for making them ones as well.
A week and a half ago I didn’t know how to make a music video with A.I. or without.
This is the power of A.I. right now when you know the right tools to use, how to use them, and find ways to use them that truly help you feel like you’re living your life more fully, and empowers you to fully chase your dreams. It’s one thing to be able to use A.I. to summarize quarterly reports, to pump out literal tons of soulless content that may get you some more business, to make infographics or presentations quicker than you used to be able to, and to free up more time to get more done or to have more time in nature, with family, self-improving, or enjoying your life (all very worthy on their own), but the satisfaction and joy I’m getting from these music videos, as well as the feeling I get feeling that I have a real potential in the global music scene is something I sincerely wish upon everyone (the sensation; their/your version of it, not mine).
So that is the impetus of this publication, but a few other things to help you along your A.I. development journey before we part ways until we meet again next week (if you find value in this, consider leaving me feedback and/or sharing this with some friends) is that Manus AI now integrates with Veo 3 (Google’s video generation) and can automate much of video generation (this workflow is how people are making the viral Bigfoot vlog channels, and other faceless channels etc), and also when using Manus to make reports/decks if you ask it to put together a McKinsey level powerpoint presentation it will do the deep research, present and design it accordingly, and present it to you in a fully editable presentation that is next-level, but if you even watch more wow factor, ask it to make it interactive.
My current go-to and favorite A.I. platform is currently Perplexity as well, and knowing when to put it in research mode as well as when to put it into ‘labs’ is what takes it to the next levels as a user. In Labs mode I’ve had it create pitch decks, websites, a functioning DJ app ( a DAW - digital audio workstation), and even a playable video game that I low-key love playing. The fact that we can go into an LLM and turn our ideas into six-figure presentations with functioning technology with interactive websites, business models with dynamic financial modeling, brand kits, go-to-market strategies, and more right now at this point in time is nothing short of incredible.
So this is a fairly short issue, just to show my face and let you know you, my audience here at the Best Tech newsletter that I’m alive, well, eating my own dog food, and have been wanting to write and publish this sooner. If you check out my music videos, please let me know what you think - the next issue will teach you literally everything you need to know to create your own, in your own style and genre. I’ve been told much of my stuff is too 90s hip-hop (which, ok, but like I said - I’m having a blast!) but I have blues, reggae, amapiano, downtempo trip-hop, pop, and more on my Suno profile already, and will have opera, country, EDM, classic rock, metal, pirate ballads, bhangra, and so much more there soon as well. If you have any ideas/requests, do let me know.
Lastly, I’ve mentioned them before, but I am able to get done what I get done in my life right now not just knowing what A.I. to use, how to use it, and then automating everything, but by hiring and working with amazing humans who are ever better at A.I. than I am to get tons done for me in my businesses so I can learn and play. For me, the company who changed my life and ‘the game’ for me in this regard is The VA Group, and I highly recommend them. Check them out, and if you decide to give them a shot, tell them I sent you. I’ve mentioned them before, as well as in my sister publication Tech For Good and my Top Voice content on LinkedIn because they’re that amazing, and I don’t keep secrets to myself when I know they can help others and I’m not obligated to keep them under wraps (there are a few pieces of tech I wish badly I could report on yet, but it’s still NDA season, so…).
I appreciate you being a reader. If you have feedback, questions, advice, recommendations, etc., feel free to WhatsApp me or to email me or through my website. Have a great close to H1 of 2025. H2 will be wild - lets make it ‘wild, good’, and not allow it to be ‘wild, bad’.
Until next time,
